Army Trains 2,094 Soldiers in Counter-terrorism

The Nigerian Army Training Centre (NATRAC) in Kontagora, Niger State,  has graduated another batch of 2,094 soldiers trained in basic counter-terrorism, the Chief of Army Staff, Lt.-Gen. Azubuike Ihejirika, has said.

Ihejirika, who disclosed this at the graduation of the soldiers at Kontagora barracks at the weekend, said those trained included 225 female soldiers
He urged the soldiers to maintain the high level of discipline inculcated in them during the training in the discharge of their duties.

“As you go into the field, I urge you to put those things you have learnt here into practice and do everything in your power to protect innocent citizens.

“Our desire is to see all of you grow in your career; we cannot afford to see any of you dismissed from the army after the training you have received here,’’ he said.
He stressed the need for prudent management of resources and attributed the success he had recorded to the support and cooperation of the media.

“They are important partners, especially in meeting the challenges we are facing today,” he added.
NATRAC commander, Major General Sylvester Audu, commended the Chief of Army Staff for providing training facilities and other infrastructure at the centre as well as opportunity for foreign training for officers and men of the army.

“Your continuous assistance and encouragement are our driving force for ensuring unhindered realisation of your vision for NATRAC; this has no doubt increased the quality of instruction and boosted the morale of troops,’’ Audu said.
